The Monthly Bethel Buzz – February 2018

The monthly buzz - February 2018
January has flown by and we are now into February. I hope everyone was pleased with their parent/teacher conferences that took place in January. We have so much enjoyed teaching and being with your children. It is an adventure every day! We will continue to provide the best education in a loving environment as we go through the rest of our school year.

With that being said, I would like to announce to our parents that our preschool will begin its
enrollment for the 2018/2019 School year. The enrollment will begin February 1st and is open to our church and preschool families first. On February 15th it will open to the public. If you know any families looking for a preschool, please be sure to let them know about Bethel. This year we are offering a $10.00 discount on the registration fee if you register your child before March 22nd

In the month of February we celebrate two holidays. The first being Valentine’s Day. After Christmas, this is the children’s most favorite holiday to celebrate. They love giving and receiving their valentines. Each class will be making their own Valentine receptacle for valentine exchanging along with having their own individual class parties. Please be on the lookout for additional information from your teacher pertaining to the details of your child’s party.

The second holiday we celebrate is Presidents’ Day. Due to all of the inclement weather we endured in the month of January and the many days of school closures, we will now be open on Monday, February 19. All classes will have school on this day except for MMO.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday February 21st at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our school. This is such an amazing fundraiser for the preschool and Chick-Fil-A has been so impressed with our numbers so let’s see if we can keep up the good work!  Come and show your support by having dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Remember to say you’re there for Spirit Night so Bethel can receive the credit and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes.

I would like to thank all of you who have supported the preschool by purchasing books from Scholastics. By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all.  Because of your help, the preschool has earned 24 new books that are free to the school. Thank you for your support. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. February Scholastic book orders will be due by February 22nd.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Have a warm and fun filled February!

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – January 2018

You Are Invited To Christmas Website Banner

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year over the holiday break! We have missed all the children and are excited to get back into the swing of things. The month of January brings the excitement of winter weather. The classes will be learning about the winter season and all the things it brings.

With that being said, I would like to remind all of our parents that the preschool follows
Chesterfield County Schools when it comes to inclement weather. If Chesterfield County is closed then the preschool is closed. If Chesterfield is on a two hour delay, the preschool will open at 11:30 and close at 1:30. If a delay happens on a lunch bunch day and your child is scheduled to stay, lunch bunch will take place and children will stay until 2:45. Our first priority is the safety of our children and staff. Please stay tuned to your televisions this winter season.

Medarva will be coming to the preschool on Tuesday, January 9th to perform free vision and hearing testing to all of our students in the 3 year old classes and our Pre-K classes. This is a quick and simple test for your child to ensure that their vision and hearing are where they need to be at this time. A consent form will be sent home so be sure to be on the lookout for it.

The preschool will be closed on Monday January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Please be sure to mark your calendars accordingly.

Our next Chick-Fil-A Night will be held on Wednesday January 17th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons. It is so nice to see both church families and the preschool families come together to help support our preschool. Just a reminder that the preschool must be able to make over $300.00 in food sales to continue holding our fundraisers. This is such an amazing event for the preschool. Let’s see if we can continue our success! Come and show your support by having dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Remember to say you’re there for Spirit Night so Bethel can receive the credit and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes.

By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. January Scholastic book orders will be due by January 25th.

Our teachers will be doing student assessments during the month of January. These assessments help the teachers to gauge where your child is developmentally as well as academically. Preschool will be closed on Tuesday, January 23rd to discuss with you in detail your child’s progress at our Parent / Teacher conferences. Each family will be assigned a time slot of 15 minutes for your conference. Please keep a look out for additional information from your teacher. As always my door is open if you have any questions and or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Once again, thank you for sharing your children with us. It is a privilege and an honor to help them grow into the young people they are to be. Have a safe and fun filled January!

The Monthly Bethel Buzz – November 2017

Choose Joy Church Website Graphic
October is coming to an end while November is just on the horizon. We have so much to do and so little time to do it in but the kids will be troopers and carry on like champs. With November, ends the excitement from Halloween and begins the excitement for the upcoming Holidays. November is the time for being Thankful for what we have which can be an abstract thought for children at this age. We will be focusing on this important concept this month.

I would like to say thank you to all of the families who helped make the Preschool’s 4th Annual Yard Sale such a success. The preschool raised $345.75. This money will go toward the Preschool Scholarship Fund. Way to go Bethel!

Parents, please be aware that Bethel Preschool follows the Chesterfield County School Systems Calendar. The preschool will be closed on Monday November 6th and Tuesday November 7th for Elections. If you have the chance, take your preschooler to vote with you. Their minds are like sponges and are open to new experiences. Let your child see what elections are all about even if they don’t understand in full. This is an amazing learning opportunity for them.

Another huge thank you is in order. Our Chick-Fil-A Night which was held Wednesday October 18th at Chick-Fil-A in Westchester Commons was a huge success. Both church families and the preschool families came together to try and help the preschool reach our goal which we were just shy of. This is such an amazing fundraiser for the preschool. The preschool receives a percentage of the food sales which will be put into our scholarship fund. Our Chick Fil-A Night for November will be held on Wednesday November 16th from 5:00p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Let’s see if we can reach our goal! Come and show your support by having dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Remember to say you’re there for Spirit Night so Bethel can receive the credit and don’t forget to stop by and spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes.

Bethel Preschool’s Picture Day went off with a bang. All the children looked handsome and beautiful dressed in their finest. Photographer Michelle Proctor of Michelle Proctor Photography has all of the school pictures up and live on her
(contact us for the password). Please place your orders today! Michelle even offers specialty items that would be perfect for the holidays.

By ordering books for your child not only are you encouraging learning and reading but you are earning free books for your teachers and their classrooms to be shared by all. Reading is one of the most rewarding gifts to a child. November Scholastic book orders will be due by November 16th to ensure delivery in time for the Holidays. Please take a look and begin that love of reading with your family.

A reminder to all that the Preschool Outreach Program items are due this month. Operation Christmas Child items are due November 9th and Powhatan Christmas Mother items are due by November 16th. This is a great way to teach your child how to do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Thank you for those who have already sent in items. The preschool has filled two shoeboxes for children of the Operation Christmas Child and one box with items asked for by the Powhatan Christmas Mother. Keep up the good work!
